Alfie dog - a Man United football supporter now?

Alfie found himself a new toy to adopt, and it doesn't even make a noise! Is he a Man United fan, or is it because it used to belong to my son who he seems to find very threatening and tries to keep him out every single day when he comes home.

Alfie hasn't ripped the red devil yet either, Sooty keeps running off with it but Alfie carries it round all over the place.


Guess what - more stamps arrived, I really must stop buying them!

I have made a birthday card for my niece in case they visit tomorrow and I can give it to my brother to take away ready for next week. I just have one to make for my 19 year old nephew now.

The stamp is Penny Black Beehave, coloured with Prismacolour pencils and blended with Sansador (and I am not very happy as I have found my new set of 120 has broken cores so I end up with half a pencil before I can start colouring), cut out with Nestie, matted on English Paper Company paper. Ribbon and MM Tag reads Hello, and Karen Foster blooms with Dovecraft brad, and chipboard letters.

Alfie the destroyer

You might remember that Alfie dog only likes toys with sound boxes, no squeekers! Also that he got destroying the toy and removing the sound box down to about 20 seconds.

Well this is Alfie's new toy which I made from a section of a leg of a pair of jeans, stuffed with old clean socks, and three sound boxes. One is a dinosaur roaring (well it was a dino toy), one is a Dalek saying "Exterminate" from an Easter egg box, and the other was a turtle saying "cowabunga dude". The last one has faded to a buzz, and the one we can hear constantly is "Exterminate".

The toy is a bit big and heavy and is beginning to look the worse for chewing, but he hasn't got the socks or sound boxed out yet!

Feeling a bit better, new card and dog toy

I am feeling a bit better after my fall and have decided my boot isn't too bad and once polished it will probably not really show. It is possible that the very soft leather will go into a hole there sooner than it would have done. Thank you to all of you who have expressed concern or good wishes. I do have a painful knee but I have had problems with it before so banging it heavily doesn't really help!

Here is a stamped image using one of the new Hero Arts stamps on vellum (well actually tracing paper) coloured with brush markers, attached with eyelets to pearlescent pink card, mounted on a grey card and with matching funky fibres. I stamped Happy Birthday with some green embossing powder but it didn't stamp well.

I am going to enter it in a challenge for a no ink pad card on Crafts By Carolyn forum, I hope I will be forgiven for the Happy Birthday digression!

Today I went to Sainsburys to take back some clothes, and buy some food. I spotted a dog toy that I bought for Alfie. It is a chatter ball and it chats away in a number of different duck voices, deep then babyish, and it says a lot of things and blows raspberries, and barks. It says, you got me now, and come on puppy or something like that.

It has been driving Alfie mad, he wants to kill it but it is hard plastic, so he has taken to barking at it for ages - I was upstairs and I thought we had a burglar with all the noise he was making! He will run after it if you kick it round the room, but he was taking his frustration out on his bed and chewing that!

Some more stamps arrived, but don't worry I am not adding them to the ones for the blog candy competition - that wouldn't be fair!

I will keep them out until afterwards but I have a feeling I need more Tuff boxes........

Remember the dinosaur toy?

You might remember I mended Alfie's dinosaur toy a little while ago and posted the photo of the then 3 legged shorter tailed pink creature.

Well this is the toy now:

Despite the fact it is disembowelled and no longer has a roar Alfie loves it and Sooty tries to get it from him which is funny!

Mother's day and dinosaur

Two photos, one is my Mother's day vase of flowers with Piglet toy. The other is the Good Boy dinosaur toy which I repaired, it now has three legs, no tail and no eyes! Within minutes of getting it back Alfie had ripped a hole in another leg and was pulling out the stuffing!

I tried to get another one to replace it, it has lasted for weeks, but they were out of stock. I went back as they told me the toys would be in Monday, but by Tuesday they still hadn't arrived. We went to Pets at Home, Sootie loves seeing the rabbits! Tried to find a dinosaur but there were none, but we found some talking undersea creatures, and they were buy one get one free!

So we bought two, Alfie carried one to the car but buy the time we got home 5 minutes later he had ripped a hole in the turtle's "shell" and pulled out the sound box and the stuffing! The other one is still in one piece so far!

I am going to attempt to make a tough toy with the sound box in now! We did see some very tough toys, they said they were "battle tested" but they didn't make the noise that attracts Alfie to them, he doesn't like no noise, or squeekers but music, talking, roaring - he has to have it and kill it!

I had a parcel of ---- you guessed it --- stamps! I also got scissors and chalk marker pens! According to the label on the package I should have paid over £12, £4 of which was VAT and £8 was a handling fee, but the postie just left it in the box!

I might get some stamping done this weekend - I hope so!

I have some help from two places on the slide show so I hope to fix that soon too!

Its' so cold!

The frog spawn is frozen into the ice on the pond! I hope we will still get some baby frogs!

As my eldest son and his girlfriend were here visiting for the weekend, we had a nice family meal today with my youngest son and his girlfriend and my parents, at the Indian restaurant that used to be a village pub in Southwick on the A361 near Trowbridge. They have a special offer on Sunday lunch and evenings and Monday evenings, choose any starter, main, rice and side dish with Nan bread from the menu for just under £11. If you want king prawns or duck it is £2 extra but they didn't charge extra for my king prawn shaslik.

Good news on the roaring dinosaur toy too, it is still in one piece, although it has nibbled bits with holes forming! It is made by Good Boy and was £3.99 in Tesco, and is much better value for money than the nearly £5 trobone playing mouse by Rosewood which lasted only hours! I have no idea why this is underlined and I can't see where to take it off!
