Wedding butterfly book

Here at last is the book I have been working on to put those butterflies in. It isn't completely finished, there is more I can do on some blank pages but this will give you an idea.



First the covers were made with chipboard packaging which were covered one side with pale green and one side metallic brown, then punched with the Cropadile Big Bite and laced with the thin ribbon, which was the same as that used to hang the butterflies, I used the Bind it all to punch the spine side of all pages and the covers even already assembled which was thick!

You can also see one of the butterfly pocket pages empty and with butterflies tucked into it.












Inside the front cover is the photo of the butterfly tree surrounded by small butterflies followed by the dried roses from the base of the tree, with a chocolate wrapper.

The next page holds the wedding invitation, closed with ribbon, but here are three pictures to show the design.

First without the ribbon, then open so you can see the stamped butterflies.

Finally with the ribbon tied in a bow as they went out.

Here are the roses I dried in my Sunwave that were round the base of the butterfly tree.

Just before the back cover is the table plan and a shot of the tables with the lovely green bows tied on the chairs, matching the bridesmaid in the picture.

Inside the back cover is the menu from the day, here it is closed and open.

I hope this will provide wonderful memories of the preparation and the day that maybe would otherwise be lost in the other keepsakes and photos.

Work in progress

I am working on a special book to keep the wedding butterflies in, and using my Bind it All for the second time, the first being a little book for my neice when she was here. I have a way to go but hope to show you pics soon.

I am trying to include all the elements used for the wedding so that it is a real memory book, and I need to print off a few photos to go in, I have also pressed the roses in the Sunwave, though they are a bit difficult to work with even cut in half first. Have ordered bigger wires that I hope will do the trick, think what I have now will probably not do it, but it needs to be finished by the weekend.

Here are the happy couple after the ceremonies have been completed.

The wedding went well, unfortunately it poured with rain but not until after the photos outside, so the rest of the celebrations had to be indoors. Nothing spoiled the day for the newly weds.

Lack of challenge card this week

Some of you may be wondering why I haven't posted the Quirky Crafts Challenge card for this week - the answer is that I got carried away and made next week's card by mistake (put it down to senility)! I haven't yet had time to make this week's card, by the time I realised it was the wrong card it was late Sunday and I have been very busy since. In fact I really must get the blog candies addressed and posted tonight which I was trying to do last night but I got caught up in wedding stuff and ended up making numerous phone calls and then relaying the info again by phone back to the bride and groom to be, the final numbers were due in today for food, ceremony and evening do! Not long to go now!

So about the card, obviously I can't show you or I will spoil the surprise of waiting for the next challenge on Sunday.

I've been published twice

Sorry I haven't been blogging much, still don't have that new PC but I am close to ordering it now. (I see I have lost a follower, sorry to disappoint).

I have been very busy sourcing wedding stationery materials, still don't have them but I have started placing orders and hope to do the rest in the next few days.

I was amazed to be told I had been featured in Papercraft Essentials magazine, and the publishers sent me a copy of the magazine and a small prize. When I got the magazine I found that two of my projects were featured and a very nice little write up. The first mag and prize were delayed by the weather and I was sent a second lot, so I had a pad of 10 printed acetate sheets which look interestintg and a pad of glitter papers.

Yesterday I got home to find a thick interesting A4 padded envelope from Origin publishers, and in that I found a prize for having a card published in Beautiful Cards magazine, this is the third or fourth time so maybe I should subscribe to that mag! Thanks for featuring my work, and the mags and prizes.

What did I win - a pile of papers including embossed, vellums, die cut and printed cards, clutter cards, all sorts, and all occasions, a cute clear stamp, two fancy keys in a pack and some Christmas bauble embellishments - wow! Thanks so much Origin.

Back to the wedding stationery - I have ordered green vellum from Handy Hippo, waiting for a decision on the colour of ribbon, but I think I am going to use 38mm organza from Ribbon Oasis. Then I need to know if ivory white pearlescent card or more creamy ivory pearlescent card is preferred so I can order that, and I am trying to find out if I can get it cut to size for maybe a little more or even creased which will save a lot of work on 90 invites.

I have been making up some samples of cards with different corners, and I printed some green vellum but I made the mistake of only ordering one sheet so not much leeway for trying ideas out. The main design and stamping was decided at Christmas but not how the final invites will go together and possible corner finishes.

I printed one piece of vellum and left it as it printed and with another I sprinkled clear embossing powder on it and heat embossed which I think is a very nice look but again the bride to be must make the final decision, and it is more work. I have the ink for the stamping of butterflies in brown, got an extra pad just in case my already opened one dries up.

I think the helpers on this project are planning to visit in March to do this, we need to get those invites finished and out there.

I did promise blog candy and I haven't forgotten, I have some nice ribbons for a start but I am waiting for my new PC then I can do proper photos.

I hope you are all keeping warm and not suffering too much bad weather, I am amazed there is still snow lying about unmelted but the traffic was so much better this morning on the way to work I think the local floods must have subsided!
