It's time to cook up a Quirky Reminder

This week I decided to make some cooking bookmarks, I often want to keep my place for several recipes I want to make.

This is The Cook from Robyn's Fetish,
I coloured her with Promarkers.

 I cut bookmarks from brown bazzill type cardstock, using a Sizzix Bigz Tim Holtz tag die, and I cut some freebie designer paper (designed by Mary Kilvert in 2012) to fit the tag.
I added cupcake ribbon and Everything Stops for Tea ribbon both exclusive to Crafty Ribbons along the bottom, and gingham ribbon (also from Crafty Ribbons) through the hole in the top. The backs are plain at present.

The first bookmark/tag features The Cook, one of the images generously supplied to the team by Robyn's Fetish. She is coloured with Promarkers and die cut with a Spellbinders die.

Apologies for any doubling up of descriptions - I just discovered the "Add a Caption" feature on pictures and wanted to try it out!

I have added a few buttons to the front of the book......

..... and finished the pages, blue and teal have red gingham paper strips top and bottom, and there are a few hearts from the scraps in places......

......pocket pages got a little love too......

 .....and orange pages got a strip of cupcake paper down the side, both sides. Papers are by Mary Kilvert (c) 2012, looking pretty now......

 ......but I ran out of cupcake paper, so used this afternoon tea strip on the last orange page, and a larger Cake image on two of the pocket pages.

My new cooking bookmarks fit neatly into one of the pockets in the recipe scrapbook.

Our Sponsor is Robyns Fetish, and I used I have a Crush on You, sentiment and image. I think the male cat is kinda tough looking, not too cute.

This is version 1, I coloured the two kitties with Promarkers and cut round the image which has a background  made using a Spellbinders Nestabilities heart cut from some free papers that came with Crafts Beautiful Magazine called Spring Collection, (and the good thing is they are "proper" quality papers not shiny magazine paper) matted on a dusky rose pink scalloped heart. I cut a panel of hammered cream card and two borders with Spellbinders Contemporary Hearts in the same dusky rose pink. I added some very fine Organza ribbon which is pinky blue, it was an odd length and I think it was from Crafty Ribbons. I added two love charms, two fishes and a fish bones charm. (Love and best fishes perhaps?)

Version 2 was when I remembered I was going to use the punched out hearts from the borders which I had run through the Xyron 150 and so they were ready stickied and I just forgot. Then the computer wouldn't recognise the memory card so I couldn't upload any more!

Time for a little bit of Quirkyness.

 The challenge as set by Caro is ABC, or anything but a card! So time to make those quirky items like ATCs, altered items, boxes, bookmarks, and I, like a few of the DT, went for bookmarks but the bookmarks are all different! Our sponsor this time is Robyn's Fetish and we used lots of images from the NEW Back to School range, I used Bookworm and the ruler from the accessories pack to make my first bookmark, and Don't Rain on my Parade for my second bookmark. Both are coloured with Promarkers and die cut with Nesties. I decided to laminate them to keep them nice, that is when I noticed a mistake - whoops, it will have to stay there now!  I punched a hole and set an eyelet and added a tassle to each, though the cord could do with being a little longer.

My second effort was an altered plastic tub into a pencil storage tub, and I used the Crayons from the school accessory pack coloured with Promarkers again and with sticky back ribbons and kraft card. Looks like I took the photo of the wrong side of the tub, whoops again! So hop on over to Quirky Crafts to see what else the DT made, and who won the last challenge!
