Quirky January, we are celebrating!

It is the Quirky Crafts challenge reminder, for which I am late, and I am celebrating my Granddaughter's 1st birthday, for which I am very early! She is only 10 weeks old, but for once in my life I am prepared in advance!

We are sponsored by Stitchy Bear Digital Outlet who provided this, and many more, cute images to the team to showcase. The image is called Baby and is by Beary Dust, isn't she cute!

I coloured Baby with Promarkers and die cut her and all the panels with Spellbinders dies. The background and stamped Celebrate ribbon are all Hero Arts stamps, there are three different definition stamps in the background - Celebrate, Birthday and Family.

Granddaughter is stamped with a Papermania clear stamp, 1 today is I think a Pink Gems stamp set, and Happy Birthday was hand written (with a Marvy's Wet Look pen and heat embossed) by me after searching for over an hour for a vertical stamp I don't think I have after all! I heat embossed the words with holographic embossing powder by Papermania. Finally I die cut the word Cute with a Die-version die.

Stitchy Bear Facebook challenge for Jan.

My favourite colour combo

With only a few hours to go I spotted this challenge, and my favourite lime green and purple colours! The challenge is the Sprinkle of Imagination challenge ending in minutes now!

The Bird of Paradise flowers on that cake reminded me of this Hero Arts stamp, which I coloured with Marvy Wet Looks and heat embossed with clear powder. I used my Spellbinders dies to cut out the flower which I edged with green ink, and mounted on a die cut purple panel. The sentiment is a Penny Black stamp, stamped in purple and heat embossed with clear powder. The ribbons are from Crafty Ribbons and the final touch was some flat back pearls.

I stamped on this sort of sage green card first, so I have the two versions, the first one looks very bright, I like that!

Happy Birthday Julie

It is Julie's birthday today, Julie is my son Richard's girlfriend, and she is getting a bird feeder and bird feed for her birthday which she apparently wanted. I think it is like my feeder.

Anyway I decided to make a bird themed card and used this Pink Paislee paper that came free with a magazine, I cut it a little to fit the card blank then stamped over it with Chocolate Baroque stamps that I coloured with Marvy Wet looks first to get multi coloured images. The sentiment is by Unity Stamps and stamped in black Stazon to stand out. I decorated the inside of the card with the same paper with Happy Birthday stamped on it, and finally added some polka dot grosgrain ribbon (from Crafty Ribbons) to the front of the card. Because I had this paper in mind and that I wanted to use bird stamps (although I have a few different sets I can choose from so that could have kept me thinking) this was a quick card to make, less than 30 minutes total.

The Craft Barn Alpha Challenge - J Jardin

Here is my first entry for The Craft Barn Alpha Challenge which is on J ending today. J is for Jardin, or garden. I added Stamporsaurus Shed and Greenhouse, Blade Rubber Stamps daisy (one of the first stamps I ever bought back in 2006), Hero Arts ferns, Tulips in pots - The Cottage Stamper (who knows where I got this), and last but not least the finishing touch I needed is a Little Claire hedgehog, the smallest of a group. The fence is made of Sizzix die cuts, ink is Stazon on the page and Memento on the greenhouse and shed, colouring is Marvy Le Plume on the page, and Letraset Promarkers on the shed, greenhouse and hedgehog. See the stepping stones? The only thing missing that is iun my garden is the pond.

This is J for Jigsaw, was working on it and ran over time, I looked at the clock and it was gone midnight - challenge closed, so it has to go on this post. I used Sizzix dies never before used, I really should use them! 

The Craft Barn Alpha Challenge - Z

The Craft Barn Alpha Challenge is on Z (but this is not the end because letters are not given out in alphabetical order) and I can safely say this is all I will do for Z! The Z's in the English section don't have anything much more apart from zip and zoom, and I am not sure how I would do those!

So I chose: Zigzag, Zebra and Zoo, zigzags are hand doodled (you would never have guessed I know lol), zebra is a Kraftin Kimmie stamp, and the zoo animals and foliage are from a Hero Arts set with the addition of a Spellbinders fence and some chipboard letters which I thought about painting then decided to leave as they match the colours.

I stamped with Stazon, much better than Memento on the gesso, and coloured with Marvy's and Whispers. Not so many colour choices as Promarkers but I am reasonably happy with the end result.
