Christmas in July - that's Quirky crackers!

I'm turning into the Christmas cat lady I think! It's Quirky Reminder time, we are sponsored by Stitchy Bear Digital Stamps and this is one of the great images that Stitchy gave me to use, and it is called Cracka Cat by Ike's Art.

I coloured the image with Promarkers and Trias, die cut it (well the challenge also requires die cuts or punches - or both, but I don't need an excuse to die cut), and the green card panel and paper panel. The papers are by Kaisercraft, I used the matching all over pattern inside the card.

The gorgeous ribbon is from Crafty Ribbons. I die cut holly leaves and berries with a Sizzix die to finish the card.

This cat card is just one of 4 variations, I have run out of time for now, am late for the challenge post anyway - and I need to go walk the dogs, and cook dinner or the other way round, so check back later and my cat collection may have grown!

Mother's Day UK

It was Mother's day yesterday here in the UK, and I hope all the Mum's had a good day! We went out for a family meal with my parents, mother in law, my son and his girlfriend and I enjoyed it very much.

Now for Spot the Difference - can you see the differences between the two cards I made for our Mums?

I started this card back to front, it was totally the wrong way to start, by cutting the window with a Spellbinders die, adhering to some DCWV paper adding the paper roses - then try and assemble it to the rest of the card which had not been decided at that point! No, it is better to decide and assemble the card and do the window last! I mounted the DCWV panel on some Papermania paper. This was mounted on to a large scalloped square of pink. Then the spotty ribbon was applied and the pink square was adhered to the yellow square which had ribbon already applied one side, then the holes were punched through both colours for the brads, and this was attached to a Craftwork Cards 8"x8" scalloped card blank. I added some butterfly die cuts that came with the Papermania paper pack, a corner Spellbinders die cut and a spotty bow. I wanted to turn the plain end over but the glue I used to attach the bow was so strong I couldn't do that. A touch of glitter glue on the roses, butterflies and paper, then Happy Mother's Day was stamped on the paper (with a Hero Arts clear stamp) and heat embossed - and it was done.

 I lined the inside of the card with Papermania paper, I think it is called Rose Garden.

Same card, a few little differences, the papers are different, there is one large butterfly, the brads are a different colour - that's all!

Quirky Secret Garden part 2

This gorgeous young lady is Ashley, a friend of Unky's who has cancer and Unky is giving half the money from the sales of this image to her friend to fund her chemotherapy, how cool is that!

So I thought  would make my card about breast cancer, and I die cut the ribbon with a Sizzlet die, and added a sentiment using a Unity stamp, it says "Be brave, strong and courageous". 

Our other sponsor is Samaflora and the challenge is Secret Garden featuring flowers.

I set Ashley in a garden, the papers used are Rose Garden by Papermania and the rug is My Mind's Eye paper. I added some Prima blooms, and some Card Craft Card Candi as flower centres. Ashley is coloured with Promarkers, and her hair is coloured with Graph'its and she is fussy cut. Her sunglasses glass are made using Plaid Papier Glass Finish glaze in pink although it doesn't show us very pink. The flower in her hair has a small gold gem centre.

Hero Hearts

I decided to take the same approach to Valentine's day as I did to Christmas, which was to get everything out related to the occasion, stamps, embellishments, ribbons, embossing folders, the only thing I didn't get out was all the dies. So I have been trawling through all of my stamps in search of love! I haven't gone through all of them I am sure. I am on Hero Arts right now, and this is a Hero Arts cling background stamp I have had for a year or so but not used before. I decided to stamp on Kraft card with black Memento ink, and this one was not meant to be used because it isn't perfect. (If you look closely you will see there are too many swirly bits one side, I tried to get two on a page and the stamp is just too wide for that). I was trying two colours, using Tria pens, to see if I like it better than just red, and I decided it was too pretty not to use to make a card. The sentiment is also Hero Arts stamped and embossed in gold, again this didn't come out perfectly. I added a piece of black grosgrain ribbon then die cut hearts using my new Dienamics die, and some freebie paper I think from Card Making magazine. I bought some black lace on the market yesterday which I think really looks nice. Is there anything else I can add? Maybe, lets see what the next version looks like! 

Quirky Crafts Challenge 33 - recipe

The recipe for this challenge is use: shrink plastic, ribbon, at least two eyelets and two patterned papers.  I used double sided paper so two designs, and after getting through 3 sheets of shrink plastic finally ended up with a bloom I could use, stamped with a Wordsworth poem also stamped in the background corner, the bloom was inked on the back with Stazon pastel ink, words in Stazon black - I did try Memento ink but it ran after shrinking!

Found this great paper in the folder with the shrink plastic then had to find this stamp to go with it, they are perfect together. Paper is Junkitz Fanciful and Stamp is by Paperbag Studio, ribbon by Crafty Ribbons, eyelets from stash and brad by Papermania. I made this C4 card for a treasured colleague who left on promotion last week. Sizzix dies, some paper I found in my stash and brads.

Quirky Crafts Card Challenge 5

This is my DT card for Quirky Crafts Forum Card Challenge 5. I cut the blank with my new Nestabilities scalloped octogon, used some papers that were free with a magazine with numbers on, and DCWV paper with Happy Birthday on it, some ribbon charm letters from Lakeland (when they did craft stuff) and a Papermania letter charm.

Here is my latest card, for a BBQ mad son!

The papers are by DCWV, the stamps are Woodware, the scrabble tiles are Papermania, and the glittered chipboard 30 is K & Co. I really didn't think it was going to turn out so well.
