Another bright shirt, that's Quirky!

I found this shirt which I had put under something, so I finished it off. The  "Shirt and Tie Shaped Card" files are from The Cutting Cafe, I used some double sided paper to make the shirt and some American Crafts paper that looks like fabric for the tie and handkerchief. The sentiment is also from The Cutting Cafe and is from a printables set called  Assorted Celebration Word Circles. I have teeny tiny buttons and one normal sized button which has Tim Holtz twine though it.

 It's Quirky reminder time, and once more I have used our sponsor's files Shirts and Ties from The Cutting Cafe, to make more cute shirt cards. The striped one has a flocked paper tie, using the hand made paper from Papermania, the green shirt has a very bright paper tie great for Summer barbeques. Both of these have the birthday sentiment included with this set. I added faux stitching and tiny buttons, and coloured the sentiment with Promarkers.

I had to try a shoe, but I really should have read the guidance document that was included before I started, so this could be better! I thought I would make a wedding shoe card with pearlescent ivory card and I die cut, using a Spellbinders heart die, one of the many sentiments that comes with this set. I added a real bow using gold edged ivory ribbon from Crafty Ribbons.

The generous Regina Easter provided the team with two files to use and I used Shirt and Tie shaped cards, which contains everything you need to cut and make shirt or tie cards and their envelopes. I cut mine by hand, if I had my cutting machine up and running I would have used that. These are so quick to do even by hand, I had some printed card that looked just like shirt material, and I used Papermania flocked hand made cotton papers for the ties. 

I added some tiny buttons to each card, and faux stitching to the birthday card and a "monogrammed" pocket.The touches of colour are added using Promarkers.

The sentiment on the first card comes with the cutting files, and the sentiments on the second are from the printables Birthday Fun set.

It has been a very busy weekend, with all the birthdays this week and I completely forgot to post these cards until now.

I thought with Father's day coming up, Mom's day in some countries this would be a good challenge, and I always need male cards so shirts are perfect!

Double birthday

It was Dad's birthday as well as my brother's at the weekend. I had to make some quick cards because we are still dashing around to hospital appointments in between emergency call outs to Mother in Law in the night, and sorting out her carers etc, and not telling her all that is going on so we don't worry her.

We bought my Dad a couple of duck sculptures from the National Trust shop a few weeks ago, it is hard to know what to get him really, but I had this stamp in mind. Oh Duck is by Sheena Douglas, I haven't used it before on a card but I remembered I had stamped sheets of it (I hoped I remembered correctly - I did phew!), and after searching through 3 boxes of stamped and printed images I found it (might have been quicker to stamp it again lol). I added a bit of colour with Prismacolor pencils, a bit of manly ribbon from Crafty Ribbons and die cut Dad (Spellbinders) and Happy Birthday (Impression Obsession). Unfortunately the words ended up decidedly crooked and the the permanent Xyron sticker adhesive was unforgiving so they had to stay wonky!

My Brother's card, he asked me if this was because he lives in S Wales (hadn't even crossed my mind, it was a toss up between this and the Silly Moo image). This is also a Sheena Douglas stamp, again the words are wonky and you can see the adhesive - I did rub a bit more off before I gave it to him. I used more of the masculine ribbon from Crafty Ribbons, and die cuts by Spellbinders and IO dies as before.

Happy Birthday Son

All I can say about these stamps is WOW, Papermania have grown up! I have three sets of their Urban red rubber cling stamps, and two of them only cost me just over £5 each at Trago Mills recently.  They are ready mounted on cling foam and the design is on the back of the mount so you can see it through the acrylic block.  I picked places that Richard has visited, not sure about the pyramids though, but he went somewhere hot!

The inside is about where he is going on his birthday,which is the Harry Potter film set.

I made him a cake, a marble cake. I added chocolate chips into the plain part, which might be why it ended up very fragile and a funny shape.

Cut in half for frosing the middle, now that looks like it should.

Finished with chocolate butter icing and chocolate greeting, and mini chocolate beans.

A Man's World

I made this card a while back, but didn't get to finish it due to the flu. I finally finished and photographed it.

 As soon as we made this type of card for a challenge I thought of this English Paper Company paper which was perfect for this. Front of card - busy man, gardening, BBQ, DIY. Sentiments are by Debbi Moore (the square Happy Birthday) from an A4 clear stamp set of Birthday sentiments. The seed packet stamp is from a small set by Personal Impressions, all small garden type stamps.

I tried to get the inside paper more focused and this is the best I could manage.

Inside the card - man sleeping, so tired after all his efforts, does it remind you of anyone? It certainly rings true here!

Red Hat Society

Yes - another Quirky Challenge starts today, and it involves red hats!

Our Sponsor is Robyn's Fetish, and this image is called A Hunting We Will Go. I think it is good for a boy's card. I coloured the image with Promarkers, and die cut it and the mats with Nestabilities, added We R Memory Keepers Big Snaps with the Cropadile to the corners of striped green vellum and a greeting by Hero Arts. It looks out of focus on Blogger but wasn't before. So hop on over to Quirky Crafts to see what the rest of the team have done, it is worth it to see some lovely examples.

Now on the room sort out front, it is going well but there is a lot to do before it can truly be called tidy for 5 minutes, but here are the new shelves in place ready to fill. I have actually filled them now so need new photos, but I am still sorting and rearranging stuff and had a trip to HobbyCraft for more Really Useful boxes, and might need a couple more yet. But things are better in my eyes, and will continue to improve.
