Quirky challenge two sketches

The lovely Spyder Lyn set us two sketches for this challenge, you can choose which one or you can do both.
There are great sketches so why don't you have a go and enter over at Quirky Crafts this time, you could win a great prize or join us as a guest designer - or both!
Our Sponsor this time is The Cutting Cafe, and you can win three sets of digital images, yes 3 sets! The sets are HUGE, they have so much included. I used the One Spring Day set for all images and the sentiment on this card, I also used some Papermania paper, quite an old design but pretty. I coloured the images with Promarkers and added some 3D glaze to the raindrops and puddles. The set has so many images and sentiments and there are ready coloured versions as well as non coloured versions that you can colour yourself. Also the round sentiments are sized to work with Nestabilities, perfect! I also used Making Memories brads, and a Cuttlebug die to cut the corner, and a Martha Stewart punch for the "lace". I used Nestabilties to cut the central image and the scalloped mat.
Hop on over to Quirky Crafts blog to see what the design team did with this set and the second totally different set provided by our sponsor.

Cattitude

I have made a card using the template from the last challenge, which I have decided I really like.
These are so easy to make, and it is a shame we had so few entries.
Mum has adopted a Tonkinese cat that needed a new home, and she only went to get the mower serviced! So it seemed to me that this would be a lovely card for her. I had some printed cat material I bought at a show, some of it has cat panels, and some has the same cats but smaller scattered all over, so I used the panel and small cat. Both are mounted on lampshade material which can be shaped a little, unfortunately it doesn't want to lie flat for this card so I added two panels of card behind it which makes it a little heavy.
I cut it out with the largest small square Nestabilities die, and used the scalloped one to make the mat behind, then I decided to make a frame to mount on top. I had some catty card which I used for my pull out panel, and I added some to the inside apeture too. I stamped round the card with a cat set, not sure if it is Woodware, I think it might be. I heat embossed with gold. Finally I added some Crafty Ribbons sheer polka dot ribbons to the pull section.

Quirky Crafts 2011: Challenge 10 - Pop up slider window card thingy, for the men

Diane does like to challenge you, and us on the Design Team, this type of card was definitely a first for at least two of us who were unable to follow the template until one of the team found a YouTube video that made it look oh so easy!

So this is my first attempt, and I will be making these again as I do like this sort of card. I used Dino and Just a Note images provided by our sponsor Stitchy Bear. I love Dino though my colouring isn't too good, I will try again to do better. I coloured him with Promarkers, the tips are not fine enough for the fine detail - for me at least. Trias work better for me, but I have more colours in Promarkers.
I found a bone stamp to stamp the edges, it is an Inkadinkado Dog stamp set. I doodled some extra words onto the inner part.

I cut Dino out with a Nestie Large Rectangle, then cut a larger mat with my trimmer. I used the Nestie as a template to mark the opening to be cut too. I used the smallest two circle dies, again Nesties, to cut the grommit, and to notch the top of the card which needed two passes as this card stock is quite thick.

I cut out the Just a Note image with the same large rectangle die as I knew it would fit the opening perfectly, it was a bit fiddly sticking it in to the fully assembled card - maybe I should have stuck it in at an earlier stage.

I finally added dad using a cut and emboss alphabet by Sizzix, you can't see what it says in the photo, I should have used card I could sand for a contrast. I also added some fibres from my stash, and punched a small arrow with an Xcut punch and wrote Pull on it.

The winner of this challenge over will win a voucher to spend on Stitchy Bear digital stamps. You can either have a go at this type of card or you can make a 3d project for a man or Father's day. So hop on over to Quirky Crafts and join in, you have to be in it to win it!
