Quirky Crafts 2011: Challenge 9 - A Right Royal Affair

It is nearly the Royal Wedding day and so it seemed to me a great theme for a challenge.

The challenge is to make a project inspired by royalty, and incorporating the colours red, white and blue of course.
So lets see those crowns, jewels, ermine, gold, and perhaps a wedding or romance, well the design team at Quirky Crafts Challenge blog have really done well with a great variety on this theme to inspire you. We also have two great prizes from different sponsors for the winners this time.

I used a digi image by Limited Runs, one of our two sponsors, and it is called Princess Cupcake. I added glitter glue to the icing part, and gems, and decoupaged the image a little though it is hard to tell perhaps. I got out my Spellbinders Fleur de Lis sets to die cut the mat and borders, and the corners. I was looking everywhere for some ribbon I remembered having with Union Jack flags on it, but I think I must have used it all, so I used three different ribbons, the top one says Congratulations in red and blue on a white background, and using my Bowdabra I made the bow, which is set on a length of the congratulations ribbon. Ribbons and Bowdabra were all from Crafty Ribbons. I coloured the cupcake with Promarkers, and with a gold pen I got free with a magazine. I accidentally brushed the glitter glue after topping it up, so it got on the cupcake base, so I spread it out and added a little more - you didn't notice did you? Finally I added tiny gems to the crown, and to the card in between the fleur de lis.

I hope to make another card, or perhaps something else, to add to the blog. There were some great images given to us by both sponsors and I would like to use more of them to show you what else you might do for this challenge.

So get those thinking caps on and see what you can come up with for this challenge!

Quirky Crafts 2011: Challenge 8 - Sparkly, Punchy Easter and/or Spring

This challenge is sponsored by Digital Delights by Looby Lou, and these delightful Easter images are available from our sponsor, see more Design Team examples and different images on the Quirky Crafts Challenge blog

The challenge as set by Caro is Easter or Spring, and you must use at least one punch and sparkle.

My first card is made using sparkly purple card punched around the page with Martha Stewart butterfly punches. The image is coloured with Promarkers and cut out with Nestabilities. The green butterflies are some new Nellie Snellen punch and emboss sets I got at the Shepton Mallet show. Had to have them! The butterflies are sparkled with Stickles glitter glue bodies and Papermania self adhesive gemstones.

The second card is Barnaby Cruisin image coloured with Promarkers and cut with Nestabilties. The carrots are part of a scalloped rectangle cut with Nestabilities and the greenery is a Martha Stewart fern punch, the bottom of the panel is punched with a Martha Stewart lace border punch. Flowers with sparkly gem centres were from a box sold by Lakeland when they sold craft items. Ribbon from stash is also sparkly with gold edges.

I have entered these in the I Love Promarkers Challenge Easter, and the Pollycraft challenge Easter, and Stamping for the Weekend Easter challenge, and The Crafty Pad - Spring challenge.

Happy Mother's Day U.K.

I have just added this twisted easel (my second easel ever - I think I am getting to like them) to http://quirkycrafts.blogspot.com/, nobody has noticed yet! The image is Pocket Patootie Birds by The Stamping Boutique who are sponsoring us for the current challenge. I decoupaged the little flower, could have decoupaged it more for a great effect, I think the fur would be great decoupaged or the mother bird just the body and nearest wing.
You have until Friday afternoon to add your entries to the Quirky Crafts Challenge blog, and they must be either an easel card (any kind) or Mother's day gift, or both. You can choose some great images like these as your prize if you win the public vote, or some gorgeous buttons from Crafty Ribbons if you win the DT vote.

The second card is using another digital image from The Stamping Boutique called Puppy Present, so cute I think.
Both images coloured with Promarkers. The birds image is cut out with Nestabilities Labels 8, the sentiments on both cards are cut with Long Scalloped Rectangles and Long Rectangles. The paper used is by DCWV from The Mini Stack. Ribbon by Crafty Ribbons, blooms were a magazine freebie. I forget where I got the buttons from, I think it was a closing down online sale.
